Many people revile the indigenous and nomadic Irish Travellers as tinkers, tramps, thieves, trouble-makers. When Rose was six years old her mother died simply because she was one of them. Her father, distraught beyond words, fled, taking his only daughter as far away as he could. He turned to the bottle to forget. Rose, now in her 20's, never alludes to her heritage; she lives in self-imposed mediocrity, shutting out love, suppressing anything that reminds her of the past and working very hard at being ‘normal'. She's not though. The blood of her people is strong in her, despite her denial, for ever the Irish are artists at heart and Rose invests her intelligence and passion into poetry, literature and the works of William Shakespeare. She's studying to be a teacher because if she teaches about these things she believes she can inspire. She can keep a desk between herself and her students, after all, and maybe she will get excited one day . . . if one of them loves what she does. Other people are seemingly always the cause of Rose's unhappiness, particularly her father for whom she shows nothing but contempt. How can she do that? Sure it is he's an alcoholic, but he is a thoroughly loveable man who cares only for his daughter, his garden, and the telling of stories. But then, he's to blame too, isn't he? She's ashamed of him; at least that's her take on it. Why is she doing this? It is very important to Rose that she doesn't let herself love. Self-preservation, you understand. If you feel too much and it all turns to shite the fall could take you just too far down the rabbit hole. Well, she's certainly pushed out of her self-imposed mediocrity when her father dies. Because his dying wish is to be buried back in Ireland . And it's there she encounters Robin. Fancy meeting your match in an intelligent, incorrigible Irishman who happens to also be a faerie? He knows more poetry than she does and has the most wry sense of humour she's ever encountered. He's her match. He can outwit her every attempt at sarcasm, rebuttal and half-truth. And he does it with an openness and honesty that Rose has seemingly never encountered. But then again, she shut her father out so successfully that she doesn't remember that he was like this too. Robin loves Rose right from the start. She's his quest. And sure as day follows night his consistency works its magic. Rose opens up and her whole story gets exposed; for comment. Only Robin can do this because she can't find a bloody thing to blame him for. So here's the moment! Rose takes the biggest risk of her life: she risks loving, and decides to do it all by herself. And when she admits to Robin that she loves him he, in turn, makes her a promise. He, time and the seasons conspire to give her a gift beyond her wildest imaginings because this faerie never lies. But even apart from all this, Rose discovers the Travellers: family and friends she has never known and a poet within herself with a story of her own to tell. Under Snow is the story of a woman's redemption and a faerie's love that defies the rules of time, logic and continental limitations, one that the ghosts of Yeats, Oscar Wilde and even Willie Shakespeare will enjoy immensely. Set in the seething unrest of the goldfields of highland Victoria , this is the catalyst that sparks a revolution. Peter Lalor, a charismatic Irishman, recently escaped from the famine in his home country, is thrust into the leadership of what becomes a doomed uprising against unjust and corrupt governance but, ultimately, the foundation of Australian workers' rights and entitlements. With him are several other key protagonists including the flamboyant Italian-born writer Raffaello Carboni whose own emotional journey causes him to exact a terrible revenge against a brutal and callous antagonist, Commissioner Robert Rede. The weather is foul and the land is a muddy, polluted moonscape. There is not an Aussie accent to be heard as Irish, Welsh, Scots, English, American, Canadian, Dutch and those recently from the Caribbean , seek their fortunes. Bakery Hill is more about people than events because the written accounts are dull and boring and that would not have been the truth at all . . . and because the women, and the Wathauarong People – the indigenous people of the region – were somehow omitted from the history books. The 21 st Century's climate of global fear (real or fabricated) has led to the re-introduction of Draconian laws removing civil liberties. The vision for this story is to see it directed in a very contemporary context, with a very contemporary soundtrack; to “sex it up” so that today's audiences come away with a sense of current affairs in difference to simply a retelling of a fairly obscure piece of Australiana.

To all appearances the Travelers are a modern-day, nomadic bunch of rag-tag musicians, fortune-tellers, nobody's ... but that's an illusion. They are, in fact the Fae (blasphemously called fairies) and their mortal collection of Lost. ALL HALLOWS is no children's story, however. Dirty, magical, passionate and humorous, there is nothing particularly sweet about these people, their allies, or the lengths two men – Riddle and Tyler – will go in their bid to acquire the tiny island of Inishrún – last stronghold of the Fae. The Travelers and their seemingly fickle goddess join forces with its peculiar inhabitants, a few key human allies and an unexpected, Otherworldly woman warrior in a battle for its defense from takeover. The leading characters of the story are Holly Tremenhere, a supposedly ordinary woman with a not-so-ordinary destiny that culminates in a magical but deadly redemption, and Connor – a Traveler with a violent and disturbed past, whose ability to love transcends even death.
